Twin Oaks may be a new nursery, but our crew is very experienced. In fact, “crew” may be the wrong word. “Family” is better descriptor. In 2013 a 3rd generation nursery north of Hillsboro Oregon became part of the urban corridor. As you may know, profit in planting houses comes much faster and easier than growing nursery stock. The owner gave in and is now enjoying his retirement. Lucky for us! His crew got along well and wanted to stay a team. So, it was a win-win when they accepted our offer to come help start our new nursery. They brought with them a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Jose, our Operations Director started his career at nursery giant Glen Walters. Over the course of 15 years continued to be promoted and became part of the management team. After that, served for 10 years as production manager for the smaller, but very productive nursery. Jose will be the first to tell you that bigger is not necessarily better. He takes pride in what he does, what we produce, and how we provide service. Jose values relationships -not only with his colleagues at work, but with our customers. He understands the key to success is not only providing a quality product, but consistently providing outstanding service. We are very lucky to have him.
Victor, Jose’s right hand man, is as hard a worker as I’ve seen. Some people will walk around a weed that is growing alongside the green house, some people will pull it as they go by, Victor will go out of his way to get the job done! He never stops moving. He also brings over 10 years’ experience to the nursery. If you hear singing out in the greenhouse it would be him, everyone loves working with him.
Salvador was the only member of the original crew to take a break away and try something new. However, he recently returned to the ‘family’. His customer service experience and mechanical expertise provide additional bandwidth to the team. We are very pleased to have him.
Margarita and Maria round out the team. They may be ladies, but they work as hard or harder than the guys. At the same time, they have a magic touch for the delicate work that is required when it comes to cuttings and pruning. They always have a smile on their face.
This team is magical. They work together like a finely oiled machine – better than a machine because they are a family!
